Basic Security Training

Looking to start a career in the security industry? Our Basic Security Training (BST) course is a mandatory step for anyone who wants to obtain a Security Worker License in British Columbia.

We are an approved Training Institute with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), delivering high-quality, hands-on training that prepares you for work in the private security sector.

The Basic Security Training course in BC provides you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed as a licensed security professional. You will learn about:

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, which is required to apply for your BC Security Worker License.

Course Duration & Schedule

5 Days
8:15 AM – 5:00 PM daily
100% attendance is mandatory

Course Materials

• Student workbook is included in your tuition fees.

• The textbook will be provided for use during the course and is also available for purchase afterward.

Exam & Certification

After completing the BST course, you must pass the JIBC Basic Security Training Exam to receive your final certification.

• Exam Fee: $65 (paid directly to JIBC, not included in tuition).

• Exam Booking: All exams are booked through the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC).

• Exam Options:

  • Take the exam online (if you are located in Kelowna or another approved area).

  • Take the exam in person at the JIBC New Westminster campus.

Please note: We do not provide assistance with the exam booking process, but we will guide you on where and how to register with JIBC.

• Exam Fee: $65.00 (paid separately to JIBC)
