The WorkSafeBC Transportation Endorsement Course is designed to work in conjunction with the Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 course, focusing on recognition of potential spinal injuries and how to prepare and transport injured workers to medical aid. Candidates will learn various techniques for safely moving patients, as well as spinal immobilization and WorkSafe BC regulatory requirements.

Prerequisite: Valid OFA Level 1, Level 2, Canadian Red Cross WEFA certification, or equivalent certificate
Course Length: 8 hours
Certification: 3 years. Candidates have to demonstrate practical skill competency for successful completion.

Course Hours:
• 8:15 am start time (8:30 am after paperwork)
• 30 minutes for lunch
• 5 pm end time
There will also be a mid-morning and mid-afternoon break as well.

Course Requirements:

  • Candidates must be 16 years of age to be certified
  • In good health and physical condition
  • Candidates must provide the instructor with valid ID
  • Students must prepay to secure a seat in class
  • Candidates must bring valid Level 1, Level 2 or WEFA certification to class

Course Content:

  • Patient Packaging for Transport: This includes supine and lateral positioning for trauma, ¾ prone drainage, and positions of comfort.

  • Review of Patient Assessment: Participants review patient assessment to an OFA Level 1 standard.

  • Critical Airway, Breathing, and Circulatory Intervention with C-Spine Management.
